Job Objective:

We are seeking a talented and creative Character Animator to join our team. The ideal candidate will breathe life into 3D rigged character models, transforming concepts and storyboards into captivating animated sequences. This role requires a blend of technical skill and artistic instinct, with a strong focus on storytelling and emotional expression through animation.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Bring 3D rigged character models to life, applying your understanding of anatomy, motion, and storytelling to create compelling animations.
• Conduct research on visual styles, genres, and technologies to tailor animation approaches to each individual project.
• Utilize motion capture technology to enhance character performances, ensuring realistic and engaging outcomes.
• Identify key scenes and sequences that are crucial to the narrative, focusing your efforts to maximize emotional impact and storytelling effectiveness.
• Transform storyboards and artwork into dynamic animated sequences, employing your sense of timing, movement, and editing.
• Manage and organize animation files and libraries, ensuring that all assets are up-to-date and easily accessible. Update procedures documentation as needed.
• Collaborate with sound designers to integrate audio elements, syncing dialogue and sound effects with animated actions for a seamless viewer experience.

Selection Criteria:

• Proven ability to visualize 3D iterations of two-dimensional storyboards and artwork, with a strong instinct for timing, movement, and editing cuts.
• Extensive experience working with 3D models and rigs, demonstrating a deep understanding of anatomy, motion, and storytelling.
• Familiarity with acting techniques, cinematography, and visual storytelling, able to convey complex emotions and narratives through animation.
• Knowledge of film and animation genres, with the ability to adapt your animation style to fit a wide range of projects.
• Advanced understanding of visual language, including perspective, point of view, proportion, color, composition, and framing.
• Working knowledge of physics laws as they pertain to animation, ensuring realistic movements and interactions within animated environments.
• Proficiency in industry-standard animation software and tools such as Maya, 3D Studio Max, Lightwave, Flash Professional, Motion Builder, Unreal Engine, Substance Designer/Painter.
